Summer 2020: Knoxville

The ongoing pandemic has led to drastic changes in each of our lives. Restaurants and bars have been hit especially hard by it. With over a dozen eateries and pubs, Market Square is the heart of Knoxville's food and drink scene. In order to helps these establishments, the City has allowed them to temporarily expand into the square itself in order to promote social distancing while eating. However, despite the new outdoor seating sections, there is still plenty of room for pedestrian traffic across the square. Market Square was named a Great Public Space by the APA in 2017.

Knoxville's Downtown is typically abuzz in April with Spring Festivals. But with social distancing this Spring, the place to be is just South of Downtown in the Urban Wilderness. Whether or not snowfall is on the ground, King Commons in Johnson City is undeniably a beautiful place to spend time. The three acre park on the edge of Downtown is more than just a pretty face: it also serves as a flood control project for the CBD.
